The evenings

What nights look like up here

Dinner is long and loud, then the valley goes properly dark — no light pollution, just the Milky Way doing its thing. Most guests are asleep by eleven and awake at seven without an alarm, slightly confused by how good they feel.

Wood fires are lit by October. In winter the snow soaks up every sound and the windows glow orange against the blue evening — the postcard is real, we just live in it.
